Homegrown UAE activewear brands worth knowing
Share
A quick disclosure before anything else: we're an activewear brand, and we're on this list. You should read it knowing that.
We've written it anyway, because the question "which homegrown activewear brands are there in the UAE" gets asked constantly and the honest answer is that there are more good ones than most people realise. Almost all of them are female-founded. Several are better than us at things we're still learning.
The brands
SCULP
Focused on premium materials and construction — breathable, moisture-wicking pieces built for gym, running and yoga rather than one single discipline. A good starting point if you train across several things and want one wardrobe to cover it.
Hunn Active
Female-led, with a studio-to-street position — rib-knit leggings, sports bras and jackets in a restrained palette. Strong on the pieces that have to work outside the gym as well as inside it.
THE TRUENUDE
Founded by Nawel Aderghal. Female-first, built around neutral tones and workout essentials with a contemporary feel. Closest in spirit to what we do, and worth looking at if the nude and earth palette is what you're after.
Ikasu
Dubai-based and sustainability-focused, established in 2021. Has collaborated with figures including entrepreneur Mona Bin Kalli and athlete Haya Sawan. One of the more established homegrown labels.
Amada
Second-skin feel, sporty-chic design, earthy tones. Amada's product photography is genuinely among the best in the region — we'll happily admit to studying it.
Activeist
Sustainably made, relaxed silhouettes, a brighter and more playful aesthetic than most of this list. Good if the neutral-everything trend isn't for you.
Fifty Made
Designed by Nicoletta Ginetti. Luxury and sustainable, with futuristic silhouettes and functional detailing. The most design-led label of the group.
Skn²
Us. Founded in Dubai in January 2026 by Niloofar and Shaghayegh Morad — identical twins, both industrial engineers. We make seamless, sculpting pieces designed for this climate, and we started with a jumpsuit rather than leggings, which most people told us was a mistake.
We're the newest brand on this list by some distance.
What they have in common
Three things stand out across the group.
They're overwhelmingly female-founded. That isn't a marketing angle, it's just what the sector looks like here.
They design for this climate. Fabric weights that make sense for a European autumn don't work in a Dubai summer. Brands built here have that constraint from day one, and it shows in the weight and breathability of what they make.
They sell direct. Almost none of these are in department stores. You buy from the brand's own site, which means no customs charges, domestic returns, and delivery within a day or two. We wrote more about why that matters when buying activewear in Dubai.
Why buy homegrown at all
The practical reason is the one above — no customs, fast delivery, returns that actually work.
The less practical reason is that a small brand here will answer your email. If a size runs oddly, someone who made the decision about that size will read your message. That's not nothing, and it's the thing that disappears as brands scale.
If you only look at one
Look at whichever one is closest to how you actually train. The brands on this list are genuinely different from each other — Fifty Made and Activeist are not competing for the same customer, and neither is competing for ours in quite the same way.
If you want seamless, sculpting, neutral, and built for heat, that's what we make. If you want something else on this list, we'd rather you bought from them than from a brand shipping in from another continent.
